Like the Patriot, the Jeep Compass is an SUV built on a car platform (the Dodge Caliber). The styling of the Compass differs significantly from other Jeeps. It lacks the rugged off-road and chunky look that has characterized the Jeep 4X4s and SUVs over the years. Instead the Compass has a more modern look and feel more similar perhaps to a Subaru than a traditional Jeep. This styling has received mixed reviews. This compact SUV comes standard with 2-wheel drive, but has 4-wheel drive as an option. It has impressive gas mileage able to stretch to 29 miles per gallon on the highway, and 25 mpg in city driving conditions.
The Jeep Compass has two trim options - the Sport and the Limited. The Compass Sport provides a basic feature set priced starting at ~$16,000. For an extra $5,000 or so, you can upgrade to the Limited badge. Both come equipped with the same 2.4L DOHC Inline 4 cylinder. The Limited upgrades from 17-inch to 18-inch wheels, leather trim, power controls (windows, mirrors, locks), and some other improved interior comfort.
