The Jeep Patriot is one of Jeep’s two SUVs built on the Dodge Caliber platform. This is another compact SUV coming in at a lower price point than the Liberty but has styling more similar to the Cherokee. This is another case of Jeep marketing a compact SUV with off-road capabilities as well as the comforts necessary for everyday driving. Reviews on the Patriot have been positive despite some initiation skepticism about building a trail capable vehicle on the Caliber platform. The Jeep Patriot is trail rated and has been fairly well regarded in terms of off-road capabilities. In additional it has most of the basics covered – good gas mileage, comfortable ride, and attractive styling. The Patriot has an impressive price tag starting at around $15,000 for a basic model.
The Jeep Patriot has two trims available, the Sport and the Limited. Both have the 2.4L DOHC 16 valve inline 4 cylinder engine. The Sport is a basic feature set with mostly manual controls, 16-inch wheels and few added interior features, but comes at a good value for ~$15,000. With the Jeep Patriot Limited, you step up another ~$6,000 from the Sport. Although the Limited doesn't add much in terms of performance, you get a lot more interior luxury, such as leather, power windows, power mirrors, power locks, keyless entry, and power seat controls. It also comes with 17-inch wheels for a more sporty look.
